Robot Specifications

Craft your robotic masterpiece with precision! All teams must adhere to these technical guidelines to ensure fairness, safety, and consistency at ROBORANA 1.0.

  • The robot must fit inside a box of dimension :
    • Length: max 25 cm
    • Width: max 20 cm
    • Height: max 20 cm
  • Weight Limit:

    Max 2 kg (including all components)

    Exceeding limits results in disqualification.

  • Motors:

    DC gear motors with:

    • Speed: 200–300 RPM

    Servo, stepper, or BLDC motors prohibited unless pre-approved.

  • Wheel Configuration:
    • Exactly 4 wheels
    • Diameter: max 10 cm
    • Constant ground contact required

  • Must Be Wireless like:
    • Bluetooth (e.g., HC-05, HC-06)
    • RF Modules (multi-channel)
    • Wi-Fi (via apps or web)
    • ZigBee or short-range RF

  • Battery Types:

    Use sealed, immobilized electrolyte batteries:

    • Lithium-ion (e.g., 18650 cells)
    • Gel Cell
    • Nickel-Cadmium (NiCad)

Competition Rules

Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping challenge! ROBORANA 1.0 features three progressive rounds testing navigation, obstacle-handling, and high-speed control. Top teams advance to the next round.

Objective: Navigate a complex maze to the endpoint in the shortest time.

  • Rules:
    • One attempt per team
    • Maze layout revealed at start
    • Pre-race maze analysis prohibited
    • Follow correct path (includes dead ends)
    • Time recorded
    • Qualify by meeting cut-off time
    • Wireless, manual control only
    • Physical interference banned
  • Maze Specifications:
    • Dimensions: 2m × 2m
    • Lane Width: 40 cm
    • Features: Tight corners, turns, misleading paths

Objective: Navigate a terrain with obstacles.

  • Arena Features:
    • Humps and bumps
    • Ramps and slopes
    • Potholes and trenches
    • Wobble bridges and trap zones
  • Rules:
    • One attempt per team
    • Cross all obstacles (skipping incurs penalties)
    • Time recorded
    • Qualify by cut-off time
    • Out of bounds or inability to continue disqualifies
    • Touching arena elements prohibited
  • Performance Test:

    Evaluates torque, traction, and stability.

Objective: Head-to-head F1-style race with qualifiers.

  • Track Features:
    • Closed-loop track with straights, curves
  • Rules:
    • Simultaneous race
    • Positions based on Round 2 times
    • Fixed laps announced pre-race
    • Top 3 by total time
    • Skipping checkpoints or collisions incur penalties
    • Manual control only
